Österreichisches Freilichtmuseum Stübing - Austrian Open-Air Museum Stübing
Apart from about 100 farm buildings the Austrian Open-Air Museum also shows numerous examples of historically grown man-made landscape and gardens.
The traditional farmer’s garden has a long history.
Protected by a fence it was always laid out next to the farmhouse so that the house and the garden formed a unity.
The garden supplied the farmer’s family with daily food, vegetables, herbal spices, medical plants and herbs
and later also flowers that were needed for the decoration of the church and for family celebrations.
